Ramdhura

The home stay is situated close to Deollo i.e. 18 kilometers. Nearly 90 kilometers from Siliguri is Ramdhura isolated from the rest of the places of the region, ideally located for adventure as well as leisure tour. Great views of Mount Kanchenjungha and the meandering River Teesta, Ramdhura is the new Home stay developed and has come up with nice reviews from earlier guest. Nearly 93 kilometers from Siliguri and takes about three hours drive. The roads are nice. There are two approach Road one via Kalimpong other via Mongsong. From Rangpo there is a scenic road to Kalimpong via Mongsong. Icchey / Ecchey Gaon is within two kilometers with Ramdhura and the activities and sightseeing places are same. Chumirchen (Pedong)

New destination in the evergreen and mystical hills of the North East situated close to Sikkim Border near Neora Valley. Guest who is looking for something new home stay, something out of the traditional, and something authentic then this is the place to be for a leisure holiday. This is a place with a very beautiful blend of History, culture and nature wherein a traveler can have a genuine experience. Tathagata Farm

This farm offer dazzling views of the Himalayas in the backdrop, wake up within the idyllic serenity of a tea farm estate of Darjeeling. Damsang

Pedong is only 21 kilometers on the way to Rhenock is situated at an altitude of 1240 meters / 4071 feet. It is a small picturesque hill hamlet surrounded by Pine forest. Damsang is located on a ridge, offering a panoramic view of the mount Kanchenjunga and the wide range Himalayan Mountains. It lies on the historic Silk route that connects India to Lhasa via the Jelep la Pass. The variations of altitude are drastic i.e. from the sub tropical at the Rishi Valley to Alpine at the Damsang ridge. Terrain is negotiable and offers some of the most breath taking views of the landscape. Step cultivation or Terrace farming here is worth watching. It is also a birders hot spot. Birds includes lower Himalayan species like Grey Bush chat, Grey-hooded Warbler, Rusty-tailed Tree creeper, White-crested Laughing thrush, Blue Fronted Redstart, Rufous Sibia, Green Backed Tit, etc. Places to visit staying at Pedong are the ruins of Damsang Gadi, a historical fort built in 1690 by the Lepchas. The Cross Hill, placed by priest Auguste Desgodins in 1882 on his way to Tibet is also worth visiting.

The villages near Pedong include Sakyong, Kasyong, Dalep, Kagey, Upper Menchu and Lower Menchu. Pedong monastery, established in 1837, is another place for tourists to visit. Several short treks originate from Pedong leading to Damsang Gadi and to Tinchuley, a fabulous viewpoint. Adventure tourism activities can also be organized from here. Other places of interest are Raniban, Lepcha Heritage, Lava, Rishyap, Loleygaon, Charkhole, Rikissum, Relli Khola, Deollo, Kolakham, etc. Lava is 21 kilometers, Lolaygaon is nearly 40 kilometers, Rishyap is 16 kilometers and Aritar is nearly 25 kilometers from Pedong. The food is essentially Indian, home cooked and the ingredients are mostly locally sourced and freshly plucked from local farm. The forest around is worth enjoying. It is at a distance of nearly 120 kilometers from Siliguri / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB). It is nearly 75 kilometers from Darjeeling and approximately 80 kilometers from Gangtok.

Tinchuley

This is a small hamlet close to Darjeeling. The beautiful Tinchuley village is nearly 32 kilometers i.e. one and half hours drive from Darjeeling.  It literally means three chullas (chulla means oven). It is a relatively old destination and is close to Takdah and Runglee Rungliot Tea Estate. It is at a distance of nearly 85 kilometers from Siliguri / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB). It is nearly 45 kilometers from Kalimpong and approximately 90 kilometers from Gangtok. WWF (World Wildlife Federation) contributed to the development of floriculture projects, forest nursery and by compost and vermin compost manure projects. There are few viewpoints in Tinchuley like the Gumbadara View point, which gives extraordinary views of River Teesta. The Tinchuley view point offers a decent view of the entire range of Eastern Himalayas with the majestic Mount Kanchenjungha. Gangtok and Kalimpong can be seen from here. Sunrise point is an excellent place to view the morning scene. The Gumbadara view point provides a view of the river Teesta. Nearby tourist destinations are Takdah cantonment and Rangli - Rangliot tea garden is just a few minutes’ drive. It is surrounded by Tea Estate producing some of the best tea in the world. Some of the well known Estate are tea gardens around here include Namring TG, Rangli - Rangliot TG, Gayle Bhanjan TG, Teesta Valley TG. During night and in clear sky magnificent sight of Kalimpong is worth watching. Being in the leeward side it is always cold. There are options of few walks through winding paths across villages and forests. One can also visit the local monastery and the holy cave.

From Siliguri one can visit there via N H 31 A to Teesta Bazar via Coronation Bridge, Kalijhora or one can visit it from Darjeeling via Ghoom or from Kalimpong via Peshok or Runglee Rungliot route. It is one of the hidden treasures of Darjeeling region. Three ovens or chullas is the meaning of the word Tinchuley. It was an initiative of the inhabitants of Tinchuley to convert their rural village into self-sustained eco-urban village. The organizations like WWF (World Wildlife Federation) contributed to the development of floriculture projects, forest nursery, and by-compost and vermin-compost manure projects. There are numerous viewpoints in Tinchule like the Gumbadara View point, which gives extraordinary views of River Teesta. The Tinchule View point gives nearly a 180 degree view of the entire range of Eastern Himalayas with the majestic Mt. Kanchenjungha ruling the sky. It is close to to Lamahatta nearly 16 kilometers from and is worth visiting. The word Tinchuley stands for three chullas (chulla means oven), and this is represented by three prominent hill tops that resembels the three chullas. It is an upcoming tourist destination of the region. Tinchuley is a remote hamlet located close to Darjeeling which can be reached through a drive of 32 kilometers. It is at a distance of 80 kilometers from Siliguri, 35 kilometers from Kalimpong and 88 kilometers from Gangtok. The inhabitants of this quiet settlement took an initiative for establishing their locality as a model organic village. With the help of organizations such as the WWF, the village has developed Village Home Stays. The villagers also showed keen interest in modern farming and with the help of WWF they developed floriculture, vermiculture, organic projects.30 minutes by car and 45 minutes by road from Lamahatta. The personalized care, attention and warmth that characterizes the hospitality of the host has only to be experienced first-hand to know how much this scores over the lavish decors, room service and other luxuries that typify regular hotels and resorts.

Activities one can avail staying at Tinchuley are visit to Sunrise View point, visit Tinchuley Monastery, Bird Watching, Visit to Tea Garden & Teesta Valley Durpin Dara is also worth it. The stay is pleasant in March to May season, wet in wet from June to September. It is pleasant & cold from October to February. Bagdogra Airport is 77 kilometers, New Jalpaiguri railway station is nearly 75 kilometers,  Darjeeling Town is 33 kilometers, Kalimpong Town is 35 kilometers & Gangtok is 80 kilometers. 

Kettle Valley - Home Stay 

This is also away from the crowd to get rid of the hustle bustle of city busy life. Guest looking for a quiet, peaceful, relaxed holiday, wants to be close to nature than Kettle Valley Home Stay is the right place. It is an ideal place for peace loving tourist with the family home of the Chhettri. Situated nearly 8 kilometers away from Kurseong town on the way to Darjeeling a place call Dilaram. From there  it’s a 2 minutes’ walk from the motor able road. There are two comfortable rooms for guest with western style toilets in a rural ambiance, with private balcony facing the Kurseong town and the view of far pristine hills, Sandhaphu, Mirik, and adjacent areas.During winter one can sees snow in these hills. The view from the view point is great, you can see the might Mt. Kanchendzonga and its adjacent ranges, the valleys & hills of Sikkim and greenery all over.Visit to Bhanzang Salamander Lake - is located a kilometre away from Kettle Valley. It is a beautiful green-tinged lake that shelters the rarest and most endangered species of salamanders (living fossils) – a species under threat of extinction. In the past, it used to be a favourite place for the British for boating and people from the neighbouring towns used to hang out here frequently. There are very few places in the world were these species are found and this lake is one such lake. Village life - A typical day in a local’s life involves getting up at the crack of dawn to the milk the cow, feed the animals, tend to the fields and pick fresh vegetables to prepare for meals. Villagers realise that partaking in these activities is a novelty for most visitors. Learning local Gorkha cuisine - The home stay serves various Gorkha local cuisines; guests are invited to learn to prepare the delicious local cuisines at kitchen of the home stay. Kolakham

It is a new hamlet ideally located in the outskirt of Neora Valley. It is a paradise for bird lovers and nature lover. It is situated an altitude of 1868 meters in the Kalimpong Hills of Darjeeling District. It is situated at a distance of 110 kilometers from Siliguri. Ideally located as an offbeat destinations amidst the clouds and forest surroundings. It is facing the Majestic Mount Kanchenjunga. One can enjoy the beautiful range of snow peaks, the never ending green forest and variety of birds from this place. Enthusiasts can go for a walk on the jungle trail. The chance of coming across wildlife is quite high here. A trek of 5 KM will take visit the beautiful Changey falls nearly 8 kilometers from Lava.

The National Park with its dense forests is located on the tri-junction of Bhutan, Sikkim and West-Bengal. It extends from 30 meters of altitude up to 3200 meters on an area of only 88 square kilometers. The Neora Valley offers a range of plants including tropical, sub-tropical, sub-temperate and temperate vegetative systems. Rhododendron, sal, oak, bamboo, ferns etc. form the forest and a range of orchids can be viewed. The National Park is home to many endangered species like the red panda, musk deer, clouded leopard, etc.

On a clear day the snowy peaks of Kabru, Kabrudome, Kanchenjunga and Pandim stand out against the streched sky. Enthusiasts can go for a jungle trail. The chance of coming across wildlife is quite high here and birds can be spotted easily. A trek of 5 kilometers will take one to the beautiful Changey falls.

Cardamom cultivation can be observed along with the processing of the fresh material into the roasted spice. Some of the villagers can be spotted weaving maize and paddy straw into sitting mats. One can come across the men farm (the primary crop is cardamom) or breed live-stock while children play in courtyards colored with marigold, dahlia, chrysanthemum and other flowers. Places of interest nearby are Lava, Lolegaon, Rishyap etc but the roads are difficult wiuth luxury vehicle

 

Chatakpur

This village is situated at an altitude of 7887 feet. Close to Darjeeling this small Himalayan village called Chatakpur has beautiful home stay developed. The place is scenic, offbeat and nice. There are 15 such houses and under community development program. This small hamlet located at a distance of nearly 20 kilometers from Jorbanglow on Siliguri - Darjeeling road. The destination offers guest not only a quiet and memorable stay but also some adventure activities with proper guides. Though life is tough in such difficult terrain each but each villager is a symbol of happiness. They will help you with a smiling face despite of the days struggle.  This village is popularly known among the people as the Orange village.The village is situated in the laps of the hill with waterfalls, beautiful lakes and the echoing green. Various types of fruits are found here specially the orange, as if filled with nectar. One can watch people with helping hands living in peace and harmony. Though life is tough in such difficult terrain each but each villager is sporting a smile of happiness. They cross you with a smiling face despite of the days struggle. It is really a wonderful place seen to be believed. As if a plot of heaven down on earth for us to enjoy, peaceful and serene. This is how beautiful the place Sittong is. Sittong is popularly known as the orange village for the Orange cultivation and production. The place can be reached via Mungpoo. This destination is also a hotspot due to the visit of the Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Sittong can be reached via Latpanchar and Ghaletar. For guest who loves adventure and enjoy, October is the right time to visit is from October to January when oranges can be seen everywhere. Yaksaa is the home developed for tourist. It is a community based home tourism site. The people along with the scenic beauty will mesmerize all. Sunrise and sunset and the view of mount Kanchenjunga along with the rest of the Himalayan range, Forest & Nature trek, birding and butterfly watching, Village excursions, are some of the activities one can indulge in. Mungpoo

A destination made famous by the Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. The Nobel Laureate visited the place four times at Mungpoo in 21st May, 1938, 24th May 1939, 12th September, 1939 and 21st August 1940. The Rabindra museum was built to pay homage to the great poet and his love for the place. It also had a special bond with Maitreyi Devi, the daughter of his friend Surendranath Dasgupta. Memoirs of his stay here were published by Maitreyi Devi in her book Mungpoote Rabindranath (Tagore by Fireside).

 

The place has its own beauty. Altitude is approximately 28000 feet. Mungpoo is nearly 60 kilometers from New Jalpaiguri railway station (NJP) and Bagdogra Airport (IXB). It is 55 kilometers from Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus (Junction). Kalimpong is nearly 45 kilometers from Mungpoo. Darjeeling will be roughly 40 kilometers. It is believed that the Lepchas use to call the place as Mong Pong literally means Heap of Millet but in due course had the name transformed to Mongpoo. Mong pong is also a place nearby. The forest around is worth enjoying. The place in short is one of the best leisure holiday destinations. Activities are limited but the beauty compensates that. Home stay backed by local community is worth visiting. It was the hill refuge of Tagore. His first visit was in 1938. In 1940 he celebrated his birth anniversary from an invitation by Maitreyi Chattopadhyay along with the locals. His resting place was converted to the present day Rabindra Museum. History is written all over the place. The people are fun loving, nice and caring. It is situated inside the Cinchona plantation which is gradually also diversifying to rubber plantation people. Sarita kunj is the name of the community based home stay developed here. 

 

 

Ramdhura

Ramdhura is a hamlet close to Deollo and is an ideal place for leisure holiday. Two to three night stay here is recommended. Organic vegetables grown here are in the daily menu.
