Yuksom / Goechala Trek / Dzongri Trek - Yuksom is situated nearly thirty three kilometres from Pelling. Yuksom serves as the base camp for various trekkers to Dzongri or Goechala. Yuksom is an isolated place with magnificient views of the Himalayan range. Kanchendzonga National park, Coronation point, Dubdi monastery are some of the major attractions of Yuksom. There is the mountain climbing course organized by the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute.The first capital of Sikkim and the first king of Sikkim was coronated here on the throne made of stone close to the Norbugang monsatery and the chorten. The foot print of one of the lamas, Latsun Chembo, who consecrated the king, can also be seen close to the throne. A small but beautiful Kartok lake is also situated in Yuksom. Just two kilometer walk uphill from Yuksom is the Dubdi Monastery one of the oldest monastery of Sikkim.Destinations of the high altitude treks are Dzongri (4200 meters), Goechala and Thangsing (4200 meters). For trekking to these high altitude destinations three best options are from Uttarey / Varsey, Ravangla, Nambu and Yuksam. One such trek is from Yuksom (1900 meters) - Bakhim (3000 meters) - Tsokha (3300 meters) - Dzongri (4200 meters) - Daflhagang (4300 meters) - Dzongri to Thangsing - Samiti Lake (4500 meters) - Goechala (5486 meters) - Return to Yuksam
