Day - 01 - Arrival at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) / Guwahati Railway Station (GHY) and Transfer to Shillong - Guest will be received by our representative and assist in boarding the vehicle for forwarding journey to Shillong - It is a drive of nearly 03 ½ hours - 04 hours drive ovber a distance of approximately 135 kilometres - On the way visit Umium Lake - Umiam Lake is a reservoir located in the hills 15 kilometres from Shillong in the state of Meghalaya, India - It is spread over 220 square kilometres - Next drive to Shillong- The rolling hills around the town reminded the European settlers of Scotland - Hence known as the "Scotland of the East - Check in Hotel - Evening free to stroll around the area / Police Bazaar - Enroute visit Umium Lake - Check in Hotel - If time permits visit Ward’s Lake, Lady Hyderi Park etc - Overnight at Shillong
Day - 02 -Excursion to Cherrapunjee - Early morning breakfast - It is approximately 60 kilometres and is nearly 02 hours drive one way by road - Today morning after breakfast excursion to Cherrapunjee - Visit Dwan Syiem view point, Noh kalikai falls, Mawsmai caves, Seven Sister falls, Eco park etc - The swift flowing rivers and streams flow in a southernly direction to the plains - Other attractions are Caves & view of Bangladesh (Neighbouring country) - Visit Dwan Syiem view point, Noh kalikai falls, Mawsmai caves, Seven Sister falls, Eco park etc - Later drive back to Shillong - On the way visit to Shillong Peak & Elephant Falls - In the evening, one can go for shopping at Police Bazar - Overnight Stay in Shillong - Note: Most of the waterfalls are dry during winter
Day - 03 -Mwallynong & Dawki Excursion - After breakfast drive to Mwallynong, the cleanest village in Asia - 100 kilometres and nearly 03 hours drive - Also known as ‘God’s own Garden’ - With over 80 households, the village gives the ambiance of walking in a well maintained park - Climb the 80 feet Sky Walk at Mawlynnong village for a bird’s eye view of the Village, the plantations and faraway plains of Bangladesh - You will also be acquainted to the Khasi lifestyle, their culture and economy - A trek to the nearby Rewai Village is another interesting activity - Walk down a flight of almost 100 steps to witness nature’s wonder, living-root bridge - The bridges are tangles of massive thick roots, which the local people inter-twine to form a bridge that can hold several people at a time - The root bridges, may be up to over a hundred feet long and take ten to fifteen years to become fully functional, but they become very strong in the process - The bridges live and keep growing and strengthen over time - The useful lifespan of the bridges, is thought to be 500 – 600 years - Drive back to Shillong for overnight stay
Day - 04 -Shillong Local Sightseeing - Full day Local sightseeing in Shillong including The city’s own Ward’s Lake is popular for short garden walks & boating. The Botanical Garden offers plethora of indigenous and exotic plants & rare collection of orchids. Lady Hydari Park is a Japanese style landscaped park endowed with streaches of roses & exquisite flowers. One of the largest Golf courses in Asia is an 18 hole Golf Course is charted amidst a surging valley full of thick pine groves & rhododendron trees. Spend the evening in the splendid arena ! The State Museum is a display of the lifestyle and heritage of the people of Meghalaya - Shillong and its surrounding is dotted with splendid waterfalls cascading down deep valleys forming misty sparks as they break the silence of the surroundings - Elephant Falls is a mountain stream gorging down two successive falls set in dells of fern covered rocks. Day - 04 - Trek to Nongrihat & drive to Shillong - Early morning breakfast - Drive approximately 20 kilometres - Trek to Nongrihat or the beautiful double decker living root bridge - Trek from Tyrna village - Tyrna the base village which is 20 kilometres from Cherrapunji - There is only one straight route to the bridge - Lot is heard about the exact number of steps to the bridge - But from my knowledge it would be 3400 - The starting 1800 steps are the toughest to climb down and up both - But the effort does not go in vain - There is a very very shaking iron rod bridge which was very scary to cross - The whole bridge shakes and swings and the water flowing 20-25 feet below makes the whole experience fantabulous- There is a single decker living root bridge as well just before the original double decker - Must visit place at Cherrapunjee if u can take the challenge to climb down and climb up the steps - Later drive to Shillong - Evening visit Ward’s Lake & Lady Hydari Park if time permits - Evening you can visit the local market or pubs - Overnight stay in Shillong
Day - 05 - Transfer to Guwahati - Early morning Breakfast - It is approximately 135 kilometres and is nearly 03 - 04 hours drive by road - After Breakfast check out and drive to Guwahati - Pragjyotishpura in ancient Assam, Guwahati in the modern era is the largest city in the Indian state of Assam and also the largest urban area in Northeast India - Its a major riverine port city and one of the fastest growing cities in India, Guwahati is situated on the south bank of the Brahmaputra - Ancient cities of Pragjyotishpura and Durjaya (North Guwahati) were the capitals of the ancient state of Kamarupa with many ancient Hindu temples are in the city, giving it the name "City of Temples" with Dispur, the capital of Assam Check in at Hotel - Check in Hotel - If Time Permits visit Balaji Temple, Bsisistha Temple, Sankardeva Kalakhetra - Overnight at Guwahati
