Sandakphu Phalut Short Trek
Itinerary - Duration - 6 Nights 7 Days - Bagdogra Airport (IXB) / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) – Maneybhanjan - Kalopokhori - Sandakphu - Phalut / Falut - Rammam - Rimbick - Bagdogra Airport (IXB) / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP)
Day - 01 - Darjeeling - Manebhanjan - Tonglu / Tuming Drive and Trek - Early morning breakfast - The trek can start after an early morning drive of about two hours from Darjeeling to Manebhanjang - Maneybhanjan is a small village inhabited by trekkers, guide, cook and other business community - From Maneybhanjan Guest can get a view of the trekking route, which is an awesome, near vertical climb to Chitrey - The first camp nearly 1 kilometer- Next site is at Tonglu at 3070 meters, which is 11 kilometer - The route from Manebhanjan is through dense forests covered with wild flowers and a breathtaking mountain view of the incomparable Kanchendzonga and its neighboring peaks - Night stay in trekers hut or tent - Dinner and retire
Day - 02 - Tonglu - Gauiribas - Kalipokhari Trek - Early morning breakfast - Resume Trekking from Tonglu to Gairibas at 2621 meters nearly 3 hours - Approximately 09 kilometres - Trails leads one through bamboo glades and farmlands with quaint little villages habited by warm and friendly people - Gauiribas to Kalipokhari 3170 meters is a continuous climb through the rhododendron forests - Distance is 6 Kilometres and it takes 3 hours walks from Gauiribas - Night stay in trekers hut or tent - Dinner and retire
Day - 03 - Kalipokhari - Sandakphu trek - Early morning breakfast - Resume trekking from Kalipokhari to Sandakphu, From Kalipokhari the road descends to Bikhebhangang - Valley of Poison. Trek from Bikhebhanjang to Sandakphu is a steep climb of 4 kilometres and takes more then an hour to cover this trek - Nearly 2 - 3 hours anyday- Sandakphu offers lovely view of the Himalayan Peaks - Sandakphu 3636 meter is 58 kilometres from Darjeeling and commands one of the most spectacular views - Great valley set in the midst of the hills, the slopes covered with rhododendrons and silver fir trees - Night stay in trekers hut or tent - Dinner and retire
Day - 04 - Sandakphu - Phalut Trek - Early morning breakfast - Resume trekking from Sandakphu to Phalut at 3600 meters , It is one of the loftiest peak in the Singalila Range and is situated at 80 kilometres -The stretch from Sandakphu to Phalut is the most spectacular of the trek - The burned silver fir forest makes most of the beautiful sight - A trek of 4 hours from Sandahphu - Guest will come across a stone house with blown of roof on the top of a small ridge - The place is known as Sabarkum and is 14 kilometres from Sandakphu - Halt at Phalut- Night stay in trekers hut or tent - Dinner and retire
Day - 05 - Phalut - Rammam Trek - Early morning breakfast - Resume trekking Phalut to Rammam, From Phalut the trail descends through the virgin forest of chestnut, pines, hemlock etc. till the trail reaches the meeting of two streams called Gorkhey Khola - It's a picture postcard place - One can enjoy bath and have midday meal - Resume trekking via Samandin to Ramam Trekkers Hut - Its about 5 hours trek from Phalut or 15 kilometres in distances from Phalut / Falut - Night stay in trekers hut or tent - Dinner and retire
Day - 06 - Ramam - Rimbik Trek - Early morning breakfast - Trek from Rammam to Rimbik, From Rammam the road is almost level walk for the first 9 kilometres and again it descends to Sirikhola - The road is through forest and if one is lucky can come across wildlife - The road rises steep for about 1 kilometer where it levels out again till it reaches Rimbik - Night stay in trekers hut or tent - Dinner and retire
Day - 07 - Rimbik - Darjeeling - Trek or Drive - Transfer to Darjeeling from Rimbik - Early morning breakfast - Drive from Rimbik to Darjeeling or guest can trek the way - It is approximately 4 - 5 hours for 54 kilometres Or 1 1/2 hours drive - Night stay at Darjeeling
