Gangtok
Capital of the 22nd State of India, Sikkim enjoys a mild, temperate climate all year round and offers spectacular views of the Himalayan ranges. Gangtok is the perfect destination for tourist in search of enchantment, tranquility, trekking or any other adventure. It is a mystic land of stupas, monastery, temples and endless intriguing rituals / festivals. It is situated at an elevation of 1,780 meters / 5,480 feet and is the most often visited spot of India for its floristic composition, rare Orchids and butterflies. A mild temperate climate throughout the year it integrates different cultures and religion making it a wonderful destination, where age - old traditions and customs exist along with the new ancient Buddhist monuments and bustling commercial centers. It is a centre of Buddhist learning and culture, the most famous Buddhist site in the city being the Namgyal institute of Tibetology, Enchey Monastery and Rumtek Monastery. A wide variety of rare orchids are often featured in flower shows around the city and the town is the center of activity for tourist throughout the year. Gangtok is the hub of all activities in Sikkim. North Sikkim Tour, Visit to Lachen, Lachung, Mangan, Singheik, Dzongu visit has to be through Gangtok. Lachen and Lachung packages are from Gangtok, Stay at Gangtok a day before and after North Sikkim Packages is necessary. This is due to various reason. Permit, Inner Line Permit are made on the day of Journey but the formalities are done by us on the previous night regarding Photo ID card, Passport size photo etc are collected and documented by us. Secondly The acclimitzation is very necessary otherwise it will be not only difficult but might lead to cancellation of tour. Hence we request our guest to follow some precautionary measure to enjoy the tour. There are many places in around candgtok to enjoy or one can have a pleasant package staying in Gangtok only.
Places of Interest
Gangtok is well connected to all the tourist spot of Sikkim by Road. Ravangla, Pelling, Lachung, Lachen, Yuksom can be visited from here. Gurudongmar Lake, Yumthang, Baba Mandir, Tsomgo Lake are assessable from Gangtok. Starting in the year 2008, international flower show is held here in Saramsa garden and are basically Orchid based flowers. Namgyal research Institute and the Rumtek monastery is the most visited site of the tourist.
Communication / Connectivity
Airways – Bagdogra is approximately 120 kilometres from Gangtok. Bagdogra airport is served by regular Indian Airlines, Kingfisher, Spice Jet, and Jet Airways. There are daily flights from Kolkata, Guwahati and Delhi. The airport is well connected by road and railways. There is a regular Chopper / Helicopter service to Gangtok and back. It can also be booked through Agents / Tour operators.
Railways – Sikkim has no railway system in the state. New Jalpaiguri (NJP) is approximately 120 kilometres away and is the nearest railway station for Gangtok. NJP is well connected to the rest of India. There are over two dozens of train plying in daily basis to New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Guwahati, etc.
Roadways – It is well connected with NH 31A and is 120 kilometres away from Siliguri, 85 kilometres from Kalimpong and 115 kilometres from Darjeeling. The road is beautiful and is accompanied by river Teesta. Sikkim Nationalized Transport ply regular bus service and private vehicle ply at regular interval.
